We are excited to announce the launch of BSC Glyphs, BEP-721 compatible NFT art that is both generative and completely on-chain. Unlike most NFTs that store hashes on-chain while depending on a layer like IPFS or Arweave to store the media, glyphs are entirely generated, stored, and retrieved from the blockchain. Each glyph is generated with a random seed and the artwork is revealed immediately after the minting transaction is mined.

About Glyphs

BSC Glyphs is a fork of Autoglyhs which was launched by Larva Labs (the team also behind CryptoPunks) in 2019. All OG glyphs were quickly minted hours after the project went live and the NFTs have been widely sought after since. The most recent sales have been for 70 ETH and 67 ETH.

As a tribute to the original and in an attempt to allow users on BSC to experiment with generative art, we are happy to announce that minting is now live on our website https://bscglyphs.com/

You can look at some of the sample generated artwork (from the testnet) in our channel here.

The total maximum supply of BSC Glyphs is 999, with a constant floor price of 1 BNB each. The first five glyphs will be minted for a giveaway in order to bootstrap the community. We also have a marketplace built into the smart contract (with 0 fees!) to allow users to bid, sell, and browse glyphs once all of them have been minted.

How does it work?

At its core, each glyph is generated with a unique seed and the following function, which is executed on every BSC node. When a user sends a minting transaction, a random seed is generated which ensures the uniqueness of each glyph. We store the seed on-chain and retrieve the artwork by querying the function every time we need to display it. This essentially ensures the artwork lives on forever.

Minting

Once you are done with minting your glyph, you can:

a) View all of them under “wallet”

b) Allow people to bid on your glyph by simply visiting bscglyphs.com/glyph/{your_glyph_index}

c) Set a minimum sale price that other people can directly buy your glyph for (with the smart contract acting as an escrow).

Note: In cases where you place a bid and someone places a higher bid for the same glyph, your bid will become inactive and your funds will move to “pending withdrawal”, which you can transfer into your wallet by clicking the “Earnings” tab. Similarly, if someone buys your glyph, you can withdraw right after by clicking the “Claim” button.
